Course posting: https://courses.finki.ukim.mk/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=71271 = How to start working on a project Please form and register your teams and projects for the Advanced Databases course as soon as possible. Registration of teams and projects is done within the EPRMS (Educational Project and Resources Management System) system, which all students of this course already have access to. It is available at the address https://develop.finki.ukim.mk/eprms Projects are developed in teams. Each project team should have 3 members. All team members will have to follow the laboratory exercises together, at the same time. * Each team should choose a coordinator. * Each team should have a unique **full name** and **acronym (or code) of the project** * The **project name** should be unique * The **project acronym/code** should be unique, readable, recognizable for the project, specific because it will be used in many places (your database will have such a name, different repositories will have such a name). It should contain only Latin letters and possibly numbers, dashes (-) or underscores (_) and must start with a letter. **Different scenarios:** **You have no idea for a project and you do not have a team.** If you do not manage to register a team and project by the deadline, you will be assigned to teams and projects by the exercise managers. **You do not have an idea for a project (yet), but you have a team.** As the team coordinator, register the proposed team (according to the instructions below) with a title with the standard prefix and your names in the title instead of the project acronym. Then register a fictitious project with the same name as the team name. In the description, indicate which areas you would like the project to be from, if you have any preferences. Then we can discuss different ideas for lab exercises or consultations. Then you can revise the description and the name of both the team and the project. **You have an idea for a project, but you do not have a team.** As the team coordinator, register the proposed team (according to the instructions below) and allow the team to be open to new members, with a maximum of 3 members. Then register the proposed project (according to the instructions below) for that team. Then wait for the potential team members to apply and, in communication with them, agree on the details of the project and the final name of both the team and the project. **You have an idea for a project and you have a team.** As the team coordinator, register the proposed team (according to the instructions below) and do not allow the team to be open to new members, with a maximum of 3 members. Enter the team members. Then register the proposed project (according to the instructions below) for that team. Additionally, expect notification of the final deadline for registration of teams and projects and for finalizing the details of the projects before approval, as well as the obligations in each project phase. **Registering a team in the EPRMS system:** 1. In the **My Projects** section, the project coordinator clicks on **Team Proposal** * Fills in the **team name** in the format: !AdvDB-25/26/L-ProjectAcronym. * Fills in a **team description** with a brief explanation of two or three sentences about the general topic the team would be on. * Decides whether the team is open for new members to apply themselves (the **Open for new members** option) or not. * If the team is open for new members, anyone can try to join the team, but the coordinator makes the final decision on which of the registered team members to approve and which not * Sets the **maximum number of team members**. In this course each team would have 3 members. There is a possibility of deviating from this rule only in exceptional situations, due to some special requirements that will be explained in detail in the team description. * Submits the team proposal. * After submission, the registered team proposal will be displayed by the system with the status PROPOSED. * The coordinator can then enter all team members. **Registering a project in the EPRMS system:** This can be done in advance (before the other team members join, to be understood as their agreement that everyone has joined that team to work on that project idea), or afterwards (after the team is formed and all members agree on the project idea). 1. In the **My Projects** section, the project coordinator clicks on **Project Proposal**. * The coordinator **Selects the team** that is carrying out the project (which you created earlier). * **Selects the course** for which the project is (Advanced Basics 2025/2026/L). * Fills in the **full name of the project**. * Fills in the **project acronym/code**. * Fills in a half-page text **description of the project** with an explanation for the purpose of approving the project - an explanation of goals, data, requirements. * '' In case the project idea is a continuation of a project in another subject, it should be explained what was worked on in the other subject and what would be improved in this subject'' * The Accept new responsibilities section should be ignored. * The registered project proposal is submitted for approval. * After submission, the registered project proposal will be displayed by the system with the status PROPOSED. 2. Before approving the project, the team is expected to: * Jointly develop an initial ERD (entity and relationship diagram) for the project base. * The coordinator should present this diagram to those responsible for laboratory exercises and discuss it in the presence of all team members EPRMS allows images to be copied in the project description, so the initial ERD can be included in the project description. * If instructions are received to revise the project idea / diagram, the required corrections should be made and presented again and discussed for approval. It is advisable to do this immediately during the laboratory exercises. * ''In case the project idea is a follow-up to a project in another subject, it will be mandatory to discuss the project proposal with the subject teachers and agree on the details, and the responsible teachers from the other subject should also be notified of this.'' 3. After reviewing the project proposals and ERD diagrams, the responsible teachers will approve the projects. 4. Approved projects have the status ACTIVE, after which the teams can start working on the projects. Additionally, expect notification of the final deadline for registration of teams and projects and the obligations in each subsequent phase.
