= About: Medora Team members: Marija Bajramcheska Karapandzhova 236021 == Short description: Medora is a web application system intended for use in medical clinics to help manage patients. The system is designed to handle data for patients, doctors, appointments, medical tests, and examinations. It also stores information about diagnoses and medical prescriptions, and supports tracking of services performed for each patient so that billing is easier and more accurate. The goal of this platform is to centralize all data in one system and create a more efficient and organized workflow for doctors and medical staff. == Detailed description of the project: ** 1. Who is the database and project intended for, i.e. who will be responsible for owning the database and the application and providing it as a service?** This hospital management system is intended mainly for large healthcare institutions such as hospitals with multiple departments, laboratories, and administrative units. The owner of the database is the hospital administration, as they have full responsibility for managing and securing all data within the system. The hospital administration provides services to medical staff, supports billing processes, and ensures proper record management so that accurate reports can be delivered to patients. The main need of the institution is a centralized patient data management system that stores all information in one secure place. It must allow doctors to access and update patient records efficiently. Accurate billing is also essential, as all procedures and tests must be tracked and charged correctly. ** 2. What problems in the company or organization will you solve with your creation?** The hospital management system addresses several challenges like: - Fragmented patient records – as in many hospitals patient data is scattered across departments, laboratories, which leads to delayed access. This system centralizes the data in one secure database for reliable and on-time access. - Billing errors – linking the procedures and the lab tests directly to billing helps prevent mistakes and ensures that there are no additional payments or lost data. - Lack of controlled access- Ensuring that only specialists can perform procedures and prescribe certain prescriptions according to their specialty is critical for patient safety. Therefore, the system enforces role-based access reducing the risk of medical errors. ** 3. What types of users will have access to the database and the project - in terms of types of employees in the company/institution or clients?** - Doctors: Can access and update patient medical records and write medical reports, prescribe medication. They can refer to another doctor or send them to get a lab test. They can also view patient history and generate treatment plans. Their access is restricted only to their patients, not all patients. - Lab Technicians: They can enter the lab test results and they can also generate alerts that cause triggers if the results are not good. They are limited to only lab related data. - Administrative staff: They manage patient registration, billings and giving out reports. They are allowed access for the patient that they are dealing with at the moment. Also they are allowed access to the doctors and their schedules. - Patients: They can view only their own data and results. **4. If there are other similar ideas in the same company or in the environment, or there are already ready-made solutions in the world, how is your proposal different?** While there are many other hospital management systems in the world, “Moj Termin” being one example that I’m familiar with. This system is specifically designed to address the unique need of multi-department healthcare institutions. The differences include: - An integrated multi-domain management where the system integrates multiple aspects like patients, doctors, prescriptions, billing, lab test, procedures, billing and etc, while most other systems focus only on one domain like patient for example. - Enforcing doctor specialization so that only specialist can perform certain procedures and prescribe certain medications. This is done for each department and general doctors as well are limited as they cannot perform procedures. Also doctors are restricted to give medication that the patient is allergic to isn’t compatible with another medication that they are already taking. Another thing is that doctors cannot give strong medications if the results show no signs of such illness. - Reporting and analytics – the system allows hospital management to generate detailed reports on patient satisfaction and doctor and department efficiency supporting data-driven decision making. - Linkage of reports, prescriptions and lab results help doctors to make informed decisions quickly and lower the percentage of human errors. - Role-based access helps the system to see data that is relevant only to their assigned role which helps with security and privacy. - Personalized recommendations for treatment with AI so that it can suggest to the doctor with options on further treatment based on previous data based on the medical record, symptoms and results. **5. Is it a web, mobile and/or desktop application?** It is mostly designed to be a web application as it will be mostly accessed that way, and for web browsers it will have full functionality, but it could be also accessed from mobile devices mostly for patients on the go so some advanced features like billing cannot be done from the mobile device.
