Short Description
Construct 307 is a specialised database system designed for the management and presentation of residential and commercial real estate. The database will store comprehensive details for every building and will be structured to include details for each floor and each flat/unit. The system will also track the contributors to the project linking the building with the respective architect or architects. The primary focus of the system is the status of the flats/units being up for sale, reserved, sold. This allows for end users to have relevant information on the building they are viewing and the ability to place inquiries and schedule appointments for viewings with an agent, as well as the database owner tracking the status on all of their buildings.
If I proceed with this project, the primary goal will be building a consumer oriented interactive web application. This platform will allow potential buyers to visually browse buildings, explore floors and inquire on flats/units they are interested in and the ability for end users to schedule appointments with an agent for a given flat. Additionally, the project serves an important business function by providing the company with a management tool. The system will enable the tracking of sales, interest in a property and valuable information on customer interests based on their inquiries.
Detailed Project Description
Who is the database and project intended for, i.e. who, according to your idea, will be responsible for owning the database and the application and providing them as a service - is it a company/institution/organization or an individual and a brief description of their needs.
The project is intended to be owned by a real estate development firm, or a design and build company. The primary clients this project seeks to have are companies which plans builds and sells its own buildings. The solution is designed as a single-tenant system, meaning each client company receives its own dedicated instance of the application. The owner will use the system to maintain buildings, handle client inquiries and schedule viewings with assigned agents, and track flat/unit availability. Administration is expected to be performed by one or a few authorised staff members.
What problems in the company or organization will you solve with your creation?
The main problem this creation solves is the inefficiencies in managing properties and selling them. Many companies in the real estate sector struggle to modernise their property sales approach. The main reason for stagnation is that selling properties as a single design and build company is a low volume operation, most companies currently rely on excel spreadsheets. This approach works but puts additional frustration on potential buyers that must call to get an appointment. Having a system that centralises data allows the company to manage its buildings through a web application and the end user having real time updates on what is available is crucial, creating for a more seamless experience on both ends. The ease of booking of an appointment from a web application, simplifies the managment and accessibility of the whole process.
What types of users will have access to the database and the project - in terms of types of employees in the company/institution or clients?
Access to the project in the terms of modifying the database will be reserved to most likely to a set of authorised employees and agents for the appointments. While the access to read the database will be open to the clients indirectly trough the various buildings that will be listed on the web application.
If there are other similar ideas in the same company or in the environment, or there are already ready-made solutions in the world, how is your proposal different?
On a personal note, i'm not aware of any ready-made solutions in the world, but my proposal differs on the robustness and tailored use case depending on the client that will benefit from a system like this. Bundling the database system with a company portfolio web application is the primary goal. Aiming to stand out in a unique way based around the values of the respective business, and implementing the design patterns and visions of the client.

The project is designed as a web application. This allows for the best accessibility. The clients and system owners can access the web application from any browser and any device.
