Balkan GeoTourism Database System
Short description
This project focuses on designing and optimizing a geospatial tourism database system for the Balkan region. The system will store and manage geographically referenced data about tourist destinations such as cities, attractions, natural landmarks, restaurants, hotels, and events. Each entity will include spatial coordinates to enable location-based queries and distance calculations.
The database will support features such as searching for destinations, filtering locations based on user preferences, and generating optimized travel routes across multiple countries. Additionally, the system will store user interactions such as reviews, preferences, and saved routes in order to provide personalized recommendations.
The implementation will use PostgreSQL with PostGIS for spatial data handling. Special focus will be given to indexing strategies and query optimization techniques.
